Blackened Catfish

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbl Onion Powder

  • 1 tbl Garlic Powder

  • 1 tbl Chili Powder

  • ½ tsp Turmeric

  • ½ tsp Cayenne Pepper

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 lb Catfish fillet (or Salmon fillet, or Cod fillet)

  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

  • ½ tsp Cumin

  • Olive Oil

Utensils

  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Mixing bowl

  • Baking Sheet/Aluminum

  • Saucepan

  • Spatula or mixing spoon

  • Chef’s Knife

  • Oven

  • Fork

  • Sheet pan/Baking Pan

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Place foil over a sheet pan or baking pan and drizzle with olive oil.

  3. Mix together all dry ingredients in a cup with a fork until mixed through to make the Blackened seasoning, you can also mix them in a small container with a lid, cover the container, and shake the ingredients to mix through.

  4. Lay the fish out flat on the sheet pan/baking pan and coat both sides with the Blackened seasoning then drizzle the top of the fish with olive oil.

  5. Bake the fish at 375 degrees for 12 – 15 minutes, or until the fish is firm when pressed with a fork.

  6. For your salmon, bake until the fish has a slight jiggle when pressed with a fork if you want it medium rare.
